The Kew Vegetable range of seeds from Thompson and Morgan has been specially created alongside the experts at Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew containing a mixture of staples, colourful and unusual vegetables specially selected to bring variety to your gardens and allotments to the kitchen table.
Producing delicious, sweet berries in abundance, Physalis peruviana is an easy-to-grow exotic fruit, adding a novel tropical flavour to your home harvests. Originating from South America, it’s surprisingly simple to grow but an expensive fruit to buy in the supermarket. Just treat it the same as its relative – the tomato.
Plants are enormously productive – each one yielding up to 300 golden fruits surrounded by a papery husk. The juicy fruits have a pineapple tang and a tomato-like texture. They’re notably rich in Vitamins C and B3. Enjoy them fresh off the plant, in salads and desserts or dried and used like raisins. They also make a pretty garnish. Once fully mature they’ll store for several weeks.
Please note – aside from the fruit, all parts of this plant are poisonous.
