Organic barrier made from natural oyster shell Nature Safe Slug & Snail Barrier is an organic product which contains ground oyster shells. When applied as a continuous strip around vulnerable plants, it acts as a natural barrier helping to prevent slugs and snails from attacking plants. Oyster Shells are a rich source of nitrogen, calcium and magnesium. In combination these nutrients also provide nitrogen for plant growth; Magnesium to allow plants take in surrounding nutrients and calcium for a balanced soil pH, helping to neutralise acidic soils. The nutrients in Oyster Shells also make for an ideal soil feed for earth worms, helping increase their populations which in turn helps churn up your soil giving the maximum advantage to your roots.

Effective against Vine Weevil

In tests in the Mr Middleton garden we have found Nature Safe Slug and Snail Barrier a great deterrent to vine weevil. Vine weevil are a nuisance particularly in pot and tubs. In our trials we simply covered the top of the pots with the Nature Safe Slug and Snail Barrier, the course grit of the shell prevented vine weevil from penetrating the surface and our pots remined grub free all season.
