Peonies are amazingly long-term-lived plants staying around more than 50 years, these plants will reward you for years to come producing exceptional flowers every season . Peonies prefer to be planted in a sunny spot with a well-drained soil. A good quality air flow circulation available around the plant is also very important . Peonies are very trouble free , but remember to choose a good spot where they can be happy fro 50 years. Prepare a planting hole designed for a bareroot peony, dig the ground to the level around 12-18inches. Best in deep, fertile, humus-rich soil that is moist but well-drained in a sheltered position in full sun or partial shade Long-lived but resents disturbance. Make use of a garden fork to release the edges of the planting hole at the same time.
