Peony  Fragrant ‘Madame Calot'

Paeonia Madame Calot is a very good fragrant peony with large light pink coloured flowers. Very rich flowering with strong stems. The leaves of this peony variety are strikingly pointed.

Herbaceous perennial with dark green divided leaves and large, double pale pink and cream flowers. Highly scented, floriferous. Excellent cut flower. Plant any fertile, free-draining soil in full sun or part shade in any sheltered position. Easy to grow if in good soil

Peonies are very trouble free , but remember to choose a good spot where they can be happy for 50 years.  Prepare a planting hole designed for a bareroot peony, dig the ground to the level around 12-18inches. Best in deep, fertile, humus-rich soil that is moist but well-drained in a sheltered position in full sun or partial shade Long-lived but resents disturbance. Make use of a garden fork to release the edges of the planting hole at the same time. It is really essential that the "eyes", or growth nodes, situated near the base of the old stem, end up no greater than 6 cms inches below the ground surface.
