British breeding for a weather proof basil showing much more tolerance to colder weather, winds, and light frosts. Dark green, glossy leaves with a strong clove taste and aroma. Suitable in the vegetable plot, patio containers or pots on the windowsill.
Sowing Info
Sow seed on the surface of the compost and cover with a fine sprinkling of vermiculite. Place in a propagator or seal container inside a polythene bag and place at 20-25°C (68-77°F) until after germination. Keep compost barely moist, water lightly as seedlings emerge.
Growing Info
Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle into 7.5cm (3in) pots. Grow on in cooler conditions for 10-15 days before planting out after all risk of frost, 30cm (12in) apart. Can also be grown in 7.5cm (3in) pots on the windowsill from April to October, trim to keep compact.
