Ladybirds – 100 Adalia bipunctata Larvae

Nature’s Own Pest Control for Your Garden

Ladybirds are not only charming little creatures but also an essential ally for any gardener. With their striking red and black markings, they add beauty to your outdoor space while providing a highly effective, natural form of pest control. Each ladybird can devour up to 10,000 greenfly and aphids over its lifetime, making them a must-have for anyone looking to reduce plant damage without resorting to chemical pesticides.

How Do Ladybird Larvae Work?

Ladybird larvae are just as efficient—if not more so—at eliminating aphids and other garden pests. These tiny, fast-moving, alligator-like creatures immediately set to work consuming vast numbers of aphids, scale insects, and other soft-bodied pests. Unlike adult ladybirds, which also feed on pollen and nectar, larvae focus entirely on hunting, making them an incredibly effective biological control.

Once introduced to your garden, the larvae will feed for around three weeks before pupating and transforming into adult ladybirds. The cycle then continues as they breed and establish a thriving population, ensuring long-term pest control year after year.

I was a bit disappointed when, after a few days, the ladybirds had disappeared from my garden. However, some weeks later, there are a few adults in the garden and what I think are pupae. If so, looking forward to the population explosion to come.

A very "green" way to mind your roses and other flowers that might be subject to attacks from aphids. Only problem is that it's quite difficult to determine if they stay in your "patch" once released!!

The lady birds arrived quickly and seemed healthy. Maybe too healthy as after 2 days they seem to have flown away leaving the signficant aphid population in my small garden to keep on growing! Of course there was a big risk that this would happen. But a shame still.

I found this product to be of the highest quality, the ladybirds were very healthy and of a good quality. They arrived fresh well packaged and with information leaflet on species and how to care for them next which I found very useful. All in all it was a great buy. I would highly recommend it.

So excited when these arrived and they totally lived up to my expectations. 25 very healthy ladybirds which were very easy to release into the garden and some very helpful advice from Mr Middleton's staff to help. Will buy again (but hopefully I won't need to)

I purchased a vial of 25 ladybirds. These were not the wild ones that you purchase from the USA (which are illegal in Ireland because they harm the local population of ladybirds), they were properly bred in a lab, which makes it much more likely to stay in your garden. I released them at night a week ago and they are still in my garden.
